Fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya sentenced to 4 months in jail, fined Rs.2000/- by Supreme Court
Supreme Court sentences fugitive liquor baron #VijayMallya to four months in jail and imposed a fine of rupees 2000/- on him for 2017 contempt of court case.
In contempt of court case for transferring $40 million to his children in violation of court orders, the Supreme Court handed a four-month jail term to fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya.
As per source, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on Mallya. The apex court saying, Vijay Mallya deserves imprisonment as he has neither shown remorse nor tendered an apology.
Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya, accused in bank loan default case of over ₹9,000 crore involving his defunct Kingfisher Airlines, in a contempt case.
Mallya has been living in the United Kingdom since March 2016. He is on bail on an extradition warrant executed by the Scotland Yard on April 18, 2017.
